Sanya, a popular tourist destination in Hainan, announced measures last Wednesday to restrict non-locals from buying new homes to cool the property market.

Those who do not have permanent residence permits in Hainan will be prohibited from buying new apartments in Sanya, if they already own at least one home in the province, according to the new rule.根据新规,在海南已拥有1套及以上住房的非本省户籍居民将被禁止在三亚购买新房。If they want to buy a house in the city proper and parts of its coastal areas, they must provide personal income tax or social security records for at least a year in Hainan.非本省户籍居民如果想在三亚主城区及部分沿海区域购买住房,必须提供在海南缴纳1年及以上个人所得税或社会保险的证明。In addition, buyers of unfinished apartments in the city will be prohibited from reselling them.
